The Scoop on Strawberries

Just eight of these juicy gems will get you all
the vitamin C you need in a day, plus plenty of
folate, potassium and fiber. And strawberries'
ruby red hue isn't just for looks- anthocyanin,
the phytonutrient behind the bright color, is a
powerful antioxidant that may help fight cancer
and lower your risk of heart disease. Strawberries
are among the produce grown with the most
pesticides, so buy organic whenever possible.
Good Tips for Getting Great Berries
Look for small or medium-size strawberries that
are red and fragrant, with no soft spots. For the
best flavor, it's worth seeking out locally grown
ones- strawberries are harvested in every state
in the United States. Wash them just before
eating. They'll keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
