Turning Beauty Inside Out

Supercharge your looks with my top three beauty nutrients.
Beautiful definitely begins by detoxifying your body. It is the first step toward a healthier, more radiant you.
When you look in the mirror and notice problems – breakouts and redness, age spots, brittle hair, and thin, splitting nails, you’re seeing the first signs of outward reflections that are linked to inner imbalances. The key to beauty – both inside and out— is one organ that nobody is talking about, your liver.
A lean mean, chemical clearing machine, the liver cleans one and one-half quarts of blood every minute of the day so that other organs can be nourished by purified blood, and it neutralizes toxic wastes, sending them off to the next detox organ, the kidneys for elimination. The liver also chemically deactivates vital hormones (such as estrogen), thereby maintaining hormonal balance, sustains the body’s major detoxification pathways, makes bile salts, produces cholesterol and amino acids, stores vitamin A, D, B12, and iron, metabolizes fat for energy, and regulates blood sugar for energy. Alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, GMO foods, prescription or over-the-counter drugs, fatty foods, smoking, and a plethora of environmental toxins from pesticides and exhaust fumes to hair spray and rocket fuel runoff thwart the work of this blockbuster workaholic.
When your liver is on overload, toxins find their way through your skin, and radically affect its clarify and elasticity. The skin, like the liver, is a major detoxifying organ, so waste materials exit through the skin’s pores and show up on your face, hair, and nails. Wrinkles, blotchy patches, acne, and blemishes appear. Your complexion may start to look sallow, grayish or discolored. There are more bad hair days than you care to mention. And your fingernails can turn yellow, split easily or develop white spots.
When these red flags appear, covering them up with concealers or makeup won’t make them go away. Your body is sending a clear message: it’s time to detoxify your liver!
Specific beautifying nutrients are the keys to radiant good looks and glowing health. My three favorites are chlorophyll, artichoke and the amino acid, L-taurine:
1. Chlorophyll-rich greens like kale, arugala, escarole and collards are powerful blood purifiers and natural internal deodorizers.
2. Artichokes, especially hearts, contain cynarin and silymarin, phytonutrients (plant chemicals) that studies show protect the liver from toxins in part by stabilizing liver cell membranes. Silymarin is ten times as potent an antioxidant as vitamin E, and increases the body’s production of glutathione and SOD, the liver’s premier antioxidant and key enzyme.
3. Taurine deficiency can greatly add to chemical sensitivity and depress the body’s ability to detoxify chemicals – wow, this is one important amino acid! It is absolutely critical for the formation of bile acids. Bile is a central root for the elimination of chemicals detoxified by the body. The best food source of taurine is organ meats which most of us do not eat in this day and age.
These liver loving elements are so integral to the liver’s Phase 1 and Phase 2 detox processes that I include both the food sources and a supplement in my diet to ensure that I’m getting my daily dose of living beauty.
To make certain you’re getting enough of these essential nutrients, I recommend Liver Lovin Formula which contains 300 mg of artichoke, 500 mg of copper-free chlorophyll, and 250 mg of L-taurine.
Adults can take 1 capsules of Liver Lovin Formula daily with meals, or green up your smoothie by blending a few capsules with fresh or frozen berries and a scoop of clean protein powder like Fat Flush Body Protein.
